Course Overview

This lesson provides an overview of what Specialists should expect from this course on commercial envelope systems. While the first five lessons provide what will be a review for many, they do highlight some important aspects of a wall assembly function within a structure.

The objective of this course is to learn more about wall assemblies and their components, and to become familiar with the criteria used by design professionals when specifying a particular type of wall assembly.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this lesson, you will be able to:

• Be familiar with the basic physics of what walls provide and how they do so.
• Understand the relationship between air, water and walls.
• Be knowledgeable about the various types of air and water barriers for walls.
• Know the most important performance issues of these air and water barriers.
• Learn about the many types of wall components and assemblies.
