Fire and Flammability

The need for background information about fire and flammability related codes has become a necessary component of the DuPont Tyvek® Commercial Specialist Network and Certification Program due to recent code changes. This module provides information about various fire and flammability testing requirements. It also provides a description of the tests with an emphasis on the NFPA 285 wall assembly test. NFPA 285 evaluates combustible components within walls of non-combustible construction by simulating the tested wall assemblies' fire performance.

The learning objectives for this module include:

• A review the various Codes and Standards related to Fire and Flammability
• The Impact of the NFPA 285 test in relation to the International Building Code
• Identification of combustible components in a noncombustible wall assembly that trigger NFPA 285 testing
